This fish ranks with another member of its genus, A. bleekeri, as one of the most pleasingly shaped and graceful movers on the reef. Its range is circum-tropical in shallow seas and on the reefs, but it is absent from the tropical Atlantic. This surgeonfish is a most undemanding species to feed, and will readily take all the usual aquarium foods.
