Labeo bicolor

Size: up to 12cm
Range: Thailand
Water: Prefers neutral water (pH 7.0). Hardness up to 200ppm
Food: Will eat any fish food but some3 greens should be offered, as in nature
a larger part of it's diet is algae.

Even though shark shaped, the red tail shark is more closely related to a goldfish than a shark. The Labeo bicolor makes a spectacular aquarium fish, with its velvet black body and brilliant red tail. Do not be disillusioned if the colours are a little washed out in the dealers tank. Within hours of being transferred to a normal well planted home aquarium the red tail shark comes into full colour.

Hiding places should be provided, especially if you have two red tail sharks as one often dominates the other. This species is now being successfully pond bred in vast numbers in Thailand.
