Tandanus tandanus

Range: East coast of Australia from Qld to South Australia
Water: pH about 7.0.
Hardness about 150ppm.
Temperature 5'C-30'C
Food: Will eat any aquarium food, but prefers meaty foods like earthworms,
frozen beef heart, brine shrimp, blood worms etc.

This native cat fish makes an excellent aquarium fish and due to its large temperature range is quite adaptable to cold water. It is an active fish that dispalys well and becomes quite tame; not all aggressive to other aquarium fish of about the same size. Not bred in aquariums; this species scoops out a large (up to 1 metre) nest in wide rivers or billabongs where the male usually guards the eggs for up to 2 weeks.
