This glorious fish exhausts all superlatives. In prime condition it puts even the Emperor Angelfish to shame. Found on most of the reefs surrounding the Philippines group, it is only available in Great Britain for a considerable sum and large specimens are of course much more expensive. Large public aquaria lucky enough to have a Majestic Angelfish on exhibition usually proudly display the fact in the entrance.
This is one of the more difficult marine fishes to persuade to start feeding in captivity and one must certainly provide either well-matured sea water in ‘good-heart’ or a pre-aged preparation. However, even these precautions are not necessarily guarantors of success with this species.
