The similarity between juvenile forms of this fish and the preceding two
species can be a source of great confusion to the beginner, as the illustrations show. All
three fishes have a juvenile patterning of white lines on a radiant blue background. The
following points may help the beginner to be certain of which species he is buying in the
absence of expert advice from a dealer. In the Koran Angelfish the white stripes are
slightly curved or shaped, but they are much more curved with one near the tail forming a
completely closed ellipse in the Emperor Angelfish. In the Bluering Angelfish the white
stripes are almost straight, only the ends curving inward slightly towards the tail.
Foods offered initially to the Bluering Angelfish will probably be live foods, for
example feshly sterilised mussel cut into shreds, chopped earthworm and live brine
shrimps. The healthy Bluering Angelfish will, however, quickly graduate to more convenient
forms of frozen foods.
