The
Photographer
All photographs in this gallery are taken by David Hancock of
Australia.
For the past 23 years, David has been
the Creative Director of multi award winning Video Production
house, Hypervision. David has received over 25 National awards,
including “highest honours nationally”.
Turning 40 (a while back) and now a father, was the time to put much of his
working and personal development into a passion that had beckoned him
for years, and rather than trying to capture 25 frames per second,
wanted to come home with only one frame that told the whole story.
Spending 80 hours per week working with other peoples ideas, budgets
and deadlines, is fine during the week, however, it was getting
tiresome having to
constantly pack up locations just before the “best part of the shot”
or the “golden hour of light” had arrived because of timelines, which made
David feel that he had traded in the very reason he had started in the
industry. “To express and create.”
David's semi nude figure work is
gathering a huge following worldwide, with over 25 prints leaving
Australia each week for international buyers and collectors. His
unmistakable style, uses landscape textures to blends subtle
nudes. Normally a little elusive, rarely confronting for the
viewer. (See
Bodyscapes)
Much of David’s work, is hand printed by
the highest quality, high temperature digital methods to ensure that the characteristic design of
each shot looks the way it was intended and is not stifled by
commercial printing limitations.
Being a Visual Director
for Tourism in Australia for the past 18 years, has meant that
David has a special flair for identifying those unique shots and
directing people.
Most
of David’s photography focuses on the varying “moods”, “Character”
and “Experience” of an area, rather than that one big “hero” shot
rarely seen by the visitor. An avid water lover, much of his material
is filmed around water and small towns. (See

“Everyone has their own perception of Australia and all I want is the
opportunity to share
my version with people who took the time to understand what it was I
saw.” Incidental Australia !
